Chord DESTINY POWER : Episode 12
Mwaba sits on the edge of the bed in the hospital, thinking about his past Tears gush down his cheeks. He bursts into singing and holding his head between the palms.
Mwaba :::: (chorus) What sin have I committed? What wrong to fate have I committed? Mother submitted to death and father also passed away without a message.. What wrong did I commit.. (As he sings the song in tears, Dr. Zulu opens the door and shuts it behind himself)
Dr. Wesley ::::::: (Consolingly) For how long will you cry??? If you sing and cry from dusk till dawn, your tears cannot raise the dead back to life. Instead, believe in God and accept fate. With God all things are possible. The Bible made us know that when our father and mother forsake US, then, the Lord will take us up. Don’t despair! Once there’s life, there’s hope.
Mwaba ::: Crying does not prevent one from seeing. What else is there when the head is off, the entire body is useless and valueless? How many people do you see, looking after me for the past three months that I have been admitted here??Dr. Zulu ::: It’s enough. take heart Mwaba.
Mwaba ::: Why did God allow this accident to befall me?? Why me, Doctor? Why? What have I done to deserve this?
Dr. Zulu ::: What has happened has happened. Don’t blame God. For God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself tempts no one with evil. Whatever bad that happens is the work of the devil. At this moment, Mwaba wipes off the tears in his eyes on hearing the approaching footsteps of someone. The door is knocked and opened and Stella enters.
Stella ::: (warmly) Good afternoon.
Dr. Zulu :: (reciprocated) Good afternoon. You are welcome
Mwaba ::: please, take a seat.
Stella ::: (she sits) How is your health, Mwaba?
Mwaba :::: (Brightening up gradually) It’s getting better. (pauses and introduces Doctor and Stella to each other) Please, thank him, for his care.
Stella :: (Affectionately) Oh doctor, thank for your hospitality.
Dr. Zulu :::: (shaking each others hand) we thank God. ( a few minutes later, the Doctor excuses himself and shut the. door)
Stella :::: (concerned) What a surprise!! How did it happen???
Mwaba ::: It happened just like a mystery. To the best of my knowledge, two trailers overtook each other at a sharp bend without regard for oncoming vehicle. Before we knew what was happening, we were already under the trailer.
Stella :::: (Holding her head with two palms in amazement) Oh, my God!!!
Mwaba :::: Six passengers died instantly including my parents.
Stella ::: Jesus!!!
Mwaba ::: I was the only one who survived in that terrible accident.
Stella ::: God really saved you! Six people died at the same time? It’s quite disheartening. Well! In any situation we are, we should thank God for his mercy.
Mwaba ::: Where is that God when the accident befell me? If it’s my destiny to end this way, it means God destined me a bad fortune.
Stella ::: God is not to blame no matter the condition. Whatever happens, we should learn to accept fate. God has a reason for allowing things to happen. We may never understand His Wisdom but we simply have to trust His Will.
Mwaba :::: (sniffing) Not like a bad fortune. (pauses for awhile) If I had known that cruel fate was far ahead in the future waiting to capture me in the most unexpected hour at the most important stage of my life, I would have preferred death to life. It is more honourable to die than living a shameful life.
Stella :::: (interposed) You won’t die but live.
Mwaba :::: It is better to die on one’s feet than live on one’s knees. I’m now living a hopeless life.
Stella ::: Stop cursing yourself; after all, you are not your own creator.
Mwaba ::: Stella, morning determines what the weather of the day shall be. Now, who is going to cater for my education? Where should I start from? (almost breaking into tears)
Stella :::::(consoling him) Weep not!! I believe that destiny is in God’s hand. Whatever happened is predestined to be. Since you are still alive, I believe in hope. God allows things to happen for a purpose. You know, a leaf cannot fall from a tree without God’s consent. Don’t lose hope.
Mwaba ::::: Stella, you said I should not lose hope!! what will be the value of a New born baby, predestined as a great warrior but without one leg and two hands? Tell me!!Stella:::: With Almighty God, all things are possible. But you read what happened to Job in the Bible. Our God is miraculous and merciful Stop weeping, please! Believe in God, your creator.
Mwaba ::: (she wipes his tears with a handkerchief) I really appreciate your words of exhortation. A friend in need is a friend indeed. Holding her two hands, you are my comforter, the apple of my eyes, the joy of my heart and the angel of my life. No one can make me happy in life but you. Don’t stay away from me, please.
Stella :::: (smiling) Does a snail run because of heat or cold run away from its shell??
Mwaba :::: Impossible!!Stella :::: True love they say counts no error.
Richard:::: That’s why I love you so much. At this moment, she receives a call from a school boyfriend.
Mwaba listens to their conversation.
Stella :::::(Smiles) I love you too….
Mwaba ::: Thanks for your love.. (Shaking his head surprisingly, and tears started flowing like a stream from his eyes profusely)
Stella :::: Why the tears??
Mwaba:::: I am pondering over the story of my life.
Stella :: Weep not, it is well.
Mwaba :::::( Meditating silently) Stella whom I rest upon becomes a thorn in my flesh. I seek advice from her, she turns to be a rumour-monger. (sighing deeply and audibly) Huh……hmmn!! Human confidence is vanity.
Stella :::: A white set of teeth does not determine a pure heart.. That is why an adage says, ‘people are after your wealth, not after your problems ‘. Biblical Peter promised to die with the Lord Jesus Christ, eventually he denied Him at the point of death.
Mwaba::::: That is exactly who you are.
Stella ::::::: What do you mean??
Mwaba ::::: You have betrayed me… Who did you store his number with ‘my love’?Stella:::::: Let us close that chapter and discuss something reasonable. Who Is going to be responsible for your education??
Mwaba:::: When trees fall on tress, the top most must be first removed. Answer me! Don’t hide any secret.
Stella ::: If I hide my secret from you, it’s like carrying a heavy burden; but if I speak my mind, my conscience will be as free as a wheel. I am engaged to my course mate
Mwaba :::: Why, Stella? Why did you do this to me? Don’t forget, not all that glitters is gold. If you really love me, you can’t fall in love with another man. in fact, you really disappoint me.
Stella :::: I’m very sorry. I beg your pardon, please.
Mwaba ::::(shouting at her agitatedly) Sorry for yourself. A Chameleon!!
