Mwaba walks along the street one Saturday morning. He collided with Vincent Fly, a businessman unknowingly as he thinks on how to get a job to take care of himself..
Vincent :::: (Angrily) Can’t you see!
Mwaba :::: (Prostrating in apology) I’m sorry, please Sir.
Vincent Fly ::::: (Contemplating within himself and looking at him as he walks away) Something is wrong with this young boy. (He calls on him) What are you thinking of to that extent?? What is your problem?
Mwaba ::::: (Tears fills his eyes and run down his cheeks) I’m an orphan. I lost my parents in a motor accident some months ago. I was thinking on how to get a job to sustain me.

Vincent :::: (shaking his head sympathetically) What of your parents relatives?
Mwaba :::: The only person I know as my family sent me out and took over my father’s properties.
Vincent ::: What’s your position in the family?
Mwaba ::: I’m the only child of my parents.
Vincent :::: Where do you live now?
Mwaba :::: I’m homeless.
Vincent ::: (shaking his head sympathetically) What is your name???

Mwaba :::: My name is Mwaba.
Vincent Fly ::::: That’s a lovely name. (Nods his head sympathetically, sighs and shrugs his shoulder) Mwaba, to live in this sinful world without difficulty, is like to be in life without being born. To be born is to ready to face and complete with the reality of life which is by no means easy at all. We gather wealth but we don’t know who will own it. Let me take you home.
Mwaba :::: (prostrating in appreciation) Thank you, Sir.
Precious sits on a sofa in the sitting room watching a television programme. Knocks at the door and quickly rushes to open it. They come in.

Precious ::::(Hugging him surprisingly) Oh dear, you are back! Hope there’s no problem?
Vincent :::: Not at all. (pauses) Mwaba, meet my sweetheart…. Mwaba prostrates and she receives him with open arms.
Precious :::: You are welcome, Please, take a seat..
Mwaba:::: Thank you. Precious disappear from the sitting room only to reappear with two bottles of soft drinks. Mwaba opens the bottle, and pours it into a glass cup and sips it slowly.
Vincent :::::: Honey let’s see. Mwaba give me some minutes…. feel at home, Okay!!
Mwaba ::: Alright sir…Richard sits alone in the sitting room while the couple move away.

Precious :::: Much heart almost skipped a beat. What’s the matter, darling?
Vincent ::: There no problem. For the past ten years of our marriage, you’ ve been wonderful. I appreciate your biding love, your immeasurable and invaluable contribution to all that I have been able to achieve and attainin life. In order not to beat about the bush, I want you to help me out of one particular problem.
Precious :::: (looking at him surprisingly) Have I ever refused you any help? Whatever affects the eyes must also affects the nose. How can I help?
Vincent :::: You are the only solution to the problem. I need your promise.
Precious ::::::: Don’t complicate issue.. (Suggestively) Or is another wife on the way?

Vincent ::: Far from it. Just promise me your assistance.
Precious ::: Okay, I promise you.
Vincent :::: (pauses and clears his throat) I met Mwaba on the way to my place of work. I interrogated him, and I confirmed that he is an orphan and also a homeless child.
Precious:::: (Childishly) Okay, this place is a motherless home?
Vincent ::: Don’t misunderstand me. He lost his parents in a motor accident, and I want us to give him a helping hand..
Precious :::: (Reproachfully) As our house boy.

Vincent ::::: (pauses silently for a while) No, as a child.
Precious ::::Stop telling me rotten words. Did I tell you to adopt me a child? May be, you have given birth to him before joining hands with me in marriage. If not so, you can’t bring a b-----d boy from nowhere without a reason.
Vincent :::: It is not so dear. Listen to me…
Precious:::Leave me alone! Don’t tell a deaf man that the market is over because he has eyed to see. When he discovers that nobody is left in the market he will pack his goods and go away.. (almost breaking into tears) I will leave, don’t worry! Your mother has been instigating you to chase me out so that she can get you another wife. I will leave.

Vincent ::::Why are you shouting? The wall has ears.
Precious:: Not only ears but eyes. The whole world will know what we were cooking that got burnt.
Vincent :: Listen to me… (wipes away the tears that stream down her cheeks) I swear to God who made me if I tell a lie.
Precious::: You have pleased your conscience. Don’t swear.
Vincent :: Please, you have to exercise patience over this matter. A patient dog eats the fattest bone.

I know I have offended you by bringing Mwaba home without your consent. Please, accept my sincere apology. The only way to escape from our problems is to help others out of theirs. By so doing, we will surly have everything we want. But if we refuse to listen to the cry of the poor, our cry for help will not be heard by God. Please, let us have mercy on him as an orphan.
Precious::: (brightening up gradually) I know it’s good to help one another, but he can drive a wedge between you and me, which will eventually lead to separation.
Vincent ::: He can’t destroy the stability of our happy home. It is only death that can take us apart.

After all, we have sworn before God and in the presence of men that we love each other for better for worse. What God has joined together, let no man put asunder. As good Christians, let us learn a lesson from the story of the good Samaritan.
Precious::: Okay dear, there’s no problem.
Vincent and Precious come out with smiles to join Mwaba in the sitting room.
Vincent ::: Mwaba, what do you feel we can do to assist you?
Mwaba ::: What is bothering my mind is how my university education can be achieved.
Vincent ::: What do you mean??

Mwaba ::: Sir, before the accident that took away my parents, I had been offered an admission to study Medicine at the University of Excellence. It was on our way for my registration that the fatal accident occurred.
Precious::: Medicine!! Don’t worry God will assist us to enable you pursue your education, but then, is the registration not late??
Mwaba :: No, Mum. There is room for late registration. It will only attract extra cost as penalty.

Vincent ::: Today is Saturday, by next week Wednesday, we shall set out for Excellence for your registration. Is that okay by you?
Mwaba :::: Yes Sir. Thank you so much. Prostrating to show his appreciation.
Precious::: Rise to you feet dear. We thank God. You are very appreciative and well-trained. Mwaba looks at Vincent who nods his head in go ahead order.
Mwaba ::: Thank you.

Precious ::: There is no rose without a thorn. As a man, you must face challenges. Everyday of life is full of challenges. Don’t look at yourself as an orphan. We are your parents. Whatever things you need, ask.
Mwaba ::: (Prostrating again in appreciation) Thank you, mum. I really appreciate the way you received me. God will reward you abundantly and have mercy on you.
Vincent & Precious::: Amen.
They make the necessary preparations for the registration which was accomplished. Thus, Mwaba becomes an undergraduate in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Excellence
