Chord DESTINY POWER : Episode 9 and 10

Episode 9 & 10
Mwaba and Stella come across each other
Mwaba :::: Longtime no see. I have been looking for you since. but you were nowhere to be found. Where could you have been since all these days??? (He moves closer to her and she moves a step backward in annoyance) Are you annoyed with me???Stella ::: (Angrily) leave me alone!!

Mwaba ::: Oh, come on!! I have been anxious to see you. There is no day that passed without my thinking of you. I have missed you so much. please, come closer. (She moves a step backwards)
Stella :::: If you try to deceive me, I can’t deceive myself. You always override me, Mwaba. Why don’t you men believe that women can also reason intelligently?? No wonder the bible described all men as liars. You asked to know where I had been after leaving me without the slightest compunction.

Mwaba :: Don’t be annoyed (Drawing her closer with a smile, but she still moves backward) It is due to circumstances beyond my control. come closer to your Mwaba. (Half jealously, half angrily)
Stella :::Leave me alone! That is how you men always behave. You always claim right. despite the fact that you are at fault.
Mwaba ::: I’m sorry then.
Stella ::: (shrugging her shoulder in agreement) Okay, it is all over.
Mwaba ::: How was your Senior Secondary Certificate Examination result??Stella ::: It was fine.

I had five distinction and four credits. Besides, I have been admitted into the University for Accountancy.
Mwaba ::: (Embracing her with a broad smile) Congratulations!! I know you are one of the brilliant ladies in this generation. The whole world will soon celebrate you for your academic performance.
Stella ::: (Sarcastically) Thank you for your teasing.
Mwaba ::: This is not a matter of teasing. I know your standard. Frankly speaking, you are up to the task.

Stella :: (Affectionately) Thank you. what about you???Mwaba ::: Birds of the same feather, they say, flock together. I had eight distinctions and an upper credit in Nyanja. I have also been admitted to study Medicine and Surgery at the University.
Stella :: Whoa!! (Shouting and hugging him with a smile as she lays her hand on his shoulders) Accountant hooks Doctor. We shall move to pick and pay for the celebration?? Mwaba (looking at his wristwatch) I don’t have much time to spend. Why don’t we go under the shade to have a talk. (The two holds hands while sitting under the tree)

Stella ::: Now that we admitted into different universities, we should not let distance be a barrier to our courtship.
Mwaba :: If we can understand each other, the relationship would be mutual and strong. What matters is trust.
Stella ::: As for me, you are my endless love. But you doctors always change wives as a woman changes pants. You doctors are great Casanovas and polygamists.
Mwaba ::: With the present austerity in town. I can’t marry two wives. God forbid.

Stella :: Have you forgotten that you are the only child of your parents???
Mwaba :::: And so what?? What does that mean?? Life has changed. I am a man of myself. My Parents can only give me advice, but not control my matrimonial affair.
Stella ::: Your parents can compel you to marry as many wives as you can. There is nothing you can do about it.
Mwaba (Laughing hysterically) I’m old enough to decide what is good for me. Besides, my parents are not so illiterate or ignorant. They know what is good for me. They understand that two wives mean two problems. They know the consequences of polygamy.

Stella ::: You are talking childish, Mwaba. A child may be as rich as an elder, but not as experienced. They can enforce that decision or influence your mind. To avoid an unpredictable future, it is better we perform a blood covenant..
Mwaba (Laughing boisterously) As a good Christian, it is not biblical to be involved in such a demonic activities. I’m sure you know??
Stella :::: I know, Mwaba it is to make our agreement solid and irrefutable.
Mwaba ::: Instead of that, I promise to visit you not once in a blue moon, but every two weeks.

Stella ::: (smiling) It is better not to promise than to promise without fulfilling it. I pray that our relationship will last and be fruitful. please, try to uphold your promises.
Mwaba :::(Gesturing) I will keep the promise. God is the judge of my heart and intentions.
Stella :: God sees the intent of your heart, but I only see your face. But if you disappoint me, you will bite your fingers in regret.
Mwaba ::: I will keep the promise as a debt. Have I quelled your anxiety?
Stella ::: Yes, but I want to ask you a question.
Mwaba ::: question again!! (looking at his wristwatch) Okay, go ahead.

Stella ::: Suppose we have a baby, who will first come and take care of the child between your mother and mine??
Mwaba ::: (Laughing surprisingly) You keep the name you want your child to bear until he is born. When the time comes, I will know how to tackle the situation.
Stella ::: The elders usually say ‘it’s the early bird that catches worm. We must deliberate on the future now.
Mwaba::: Okay, why did you ask such a funny question??
Stella ::: This issue has brought problems to many happy homes.

Mwaba :::: Both sides of the coin are useful and important. But your mother should be the first for some reasons.
Stella ::: Remember that the child belongs to your mother according to our tradition.
Mwaba ::: I know, but if we critically look at this issue, the wives mother usually bring peace and harmony among the couples. They are also caring, sympathetic, patient and more tolerant, Blood, they say, is thicker than water. Your mother can engage herself in domestic affairs like washing dishes or clothes, cooking and other house chores which my mother will find very difficult to do.

Stella ::: (Nodding her head in agreement) Yes, it’s true. My mother in-law can even ask me whether I have given birth to Jesus Christ. And no matter the offence I commit, my mother can tolerate it more than yours.
Mwaba ::: Apart from that, there may be secrets you can tell your mother rather than me. In order to avoid misunderstanding and allow peace to reign, your mother will for the first three months. There after, my mother will come. Have you noticed that most of the problems that occurred between husbands and wives are usually caused by the husbands mothers because they dictate to their sons how they should run their matrimonial homes.

Stella ::: As for me, I can’t have any conflicts with my mother in law. God forbid!!! The knowledge I acquired is of no use, if I don’t use my educational background to manage my home affairs and avoid unpleasant rancour. After all , the purpose of education is to solve problems. The matrimonial home is a home of learning as my mother said.
Mwaba :::: (Looking at his wristwatch) I should be on my way now.
Stella:::: When shall we see again??
Mwaba:::: Only God knows. I may take off at any time from now.
Stella:::: Okay, till we meet again… She watches Mwaba, as he walks away.
